Understanding a new thought, idea or concept is a slow process, we don't hear it and understand it immediately. We start by pulling bits of its flow and logic down to our own level, doing so long enough to glean some sense of what’s being put forward. Only after a period of time spent living with its bits - letting them flow and bump into our own thoughts - do we feel able to take on the idea again. This time we use the bits already acquired to more ably climb back into the new idea and settle amongst it - this time feeling so adequately exposed as to properly make sense of its genesis and meaning. The new idea is now our own idea, it belongs to us.
